Ramisha Sattar So recently, our friend Matthew from Affinity Magazine chatted with Caitlin and I about all things Alt Philanthropy! We talked about how ALTP began, what it's like being young women in the music business, and our future goals! If you wanna read the full interview, which I totally recommend, click here.
Record Store Day - What are Dallas record stores and Warner Music Group doing?![]() This years record store day is coming in hot after much anticipation for the friendly fun and mostly free event. It's time for music lovers and vinyl collectors to come out of their probably 90’s-themed burrows to appreciate the many performances and limited edition pieces that are making appearances throughout the national event.
Dallas is home to some premium record stores located in our beloved uptown/downtown and even places with that certain small town charm like Mad World records located in the Denton Square. We’ve got several events going on including live performances open to the public for their viewing pleasure, all consisting of local bands eager for everyone to join in on their giddy excitement that comes hand in hand with performing for fellow music fans all day long. Here is a list of those performances along with times and location below: It's Alt Philanthropy's birthday!I fell in love with the idea of being able to interview bands after I realized I had so many things I was curious about and lists of questions that I wanted to ask my favorite bands. But another thing that has always been very important to me is social activism and helping others! I had spoken out a bit about issues like islamophobia on Rookie Magazine, but I wanted to do more than that! I got to thinking and realized it would be so much more beneficial to tie what we were doing with the concept of raising money for different charities! Me and Caitlin had lunch that next week and both put together our different ideas and next thing we knew... Alt Philanthropy was born! Our very first piece was published on April 11th, 2016! Yay for being one year older, and for all of our goals that we were able to achieve over the past year! Here are some of our favorite highlights, handpicked by our staff!
